About

About Me…

Hannah Hoare is a writer currently based in the North East. She took creative writing classes at Montgomery Community College (Maryland, USA), and later honed her writing skills as part of the Collier Street Fiction Group (London) and through the Theatre Royal Brighton’s Young Playwrights program.

Her short stories include ‘Red Planet‘ (Mechanics Institute Review, 2019), ‘The Pumpkin and the Vampire‘ and ‘Understanding‘ (Liars’ League, 2021/22),‘Nostalgia Machine’ (Infinity Wanderers Magazine, 2022), ‘The Curse’ (Open Pen, 2022), and The Twopenny Bargain (selected for Grindstone Literary). She was longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Award (2018), semi-finalist for Writers of the Future (2021, Fourth Quarter), and selected for the Book Edit Writers’ Prize (2021).

Her novel ‘Parahumanity‘ was published by Wild Wolf Publishing in 2022.

She doesn’t usually speak in third person, but was told doing so would make her bio sound more professional. She might make a habit of it.

About My Writing…

I mainly write science fiction and speculative fiction, although I do dabble in other genres. Although my work might explore issues such as climate change, mental illness and social unrest, I do not write with any kind of social or political agenda. Rather, I write stories which explore the dark, twisted nature of humanity in all its amoral glory.

Or, pretentions aside: I like to put normal people in weird situations, weird people in normal situations, and weird people in weirder situations – and then explore what might happen!
